Testing 14 DPO is no different if you ovulate on day 10 or day 20. The difference is one is testing on day 24 and one is testing on day 34.
It sounds like you are spotting the day before your period is expected. I'd wait at least 24 hours, and then take a test. A missed period is the best first indicator.

I also have (well, had) 30 day cycles and ovulated late. I didn't get my positive pregnancy test until 4 days after my period was due and even then it was barely, barely positive. It doesn't impact how many days past ovulation you can test but it does impact how many days before/after your expected period you can test and expect an accurate result.

basically, it all depends. but if what you have today is implantation spotting then realistically you are probably 7-8 DPO and it wouldnt be surprising if you didnt get a BFP until 12 DPO. I mean, if you have a bunch of wandfos feel free to pee on them as much as you wish, but testing and being disappointed can be more stressful than just waiting for some people.

Days post ovulation won't matter, but days since last period will, since you're think you ovulated late (or are unsure).
Also, some women don't have enough HCG very early on the get a BFP. Test with first morning urine if possible.

No, days post ovulation are the same regardless of when you ovulate. It's pinpointing the ovulation that can be tough. Hopefully you caught it! Day 19 for a 30-day cycle sounds about right, but if you want to be sure, you could get some OPKs or temp.

I've had 30 day cycles since I got my period back after DC was born. DH and I had sex on day 19 of my cycle, which was 10 days ago. Not sure when I ovulated but I believe I may ovulate late (my due date for DC was moved back a little over a week when the gestational size was consistently behind the due date calculated by LMP). I had very light spotting today that looked much like the spotting I had with my first, and I am also having a weird metallic taste in my mouth like I did early in my first pregnancy. How soon would you test? I'm holding off from saying anything to DH because I don't want to get his hopes up as he really wants another child.
