+1. We also use nighttime Zarbees which is honey based and has melatonin -it helps my DD sleep when congested.

I love the Night time Zarbees. It does wonders.

We use the behind-the-counter childrens sudafed (the stuff on the shelves doesn't work) at the rec of multiple pediatrician S. Works great.

Children's Mucinex, also Afrin nasal spray. The Afrin lasts for 12 hours. Our 7-yr-old has asthma and the pediatric pulmonologist recommended Afrin. I don't use it as an adult and it never would've occurred to me. It's been amazing how much better our child can sleep with a cold. Wish we would've discovered it sooner.

I get the decongestant nasal spray and drip it on a qtip and have my son rub the qtip around inside his nose. I ask him to sniff the qtip when it's in his nose. This works very well for him. I also rub Vicks on his chest and back.

We give Mucinex during the day and Benadryl at night. I even take Mucinex instead of the other stuff - it actually DOES something.

My pediatrician recommends benadryl. We also get saline nose spray. It definitely helps them breathe better through the nose without using meds

Children's mucinex. It thins out the mucous so they can breath and it is the one cold medicine our peditician said was definetly fine and effective.

he is freaking out right now, first cold I can remember him every having. He hates that he can't breathe from his nose and can't seem to understand why he should sleep with his mouth open. Any recommendations of what might make him more comfortable tonight while he sleeps? Should I get children's benadryl tomorrow? Thanks!
