Maybe try next time to help another parent/grandparent with the door. She had her hands full, literally.

OP what you saw was a tiny snapshot in time. You have NO idea what transpired between the "grandmother" and this little girl before then. You have NO idea what is going on in their lives. You went from 0-60 in under 1 second with all of your assumptions....you and all the other PP's.

God help any of you if you ever find yourselves in a position where you're in public, are exhausted, are overwhelmed and you over react to something. I guess the cops should be called on you too. And the CPS should also visit your home and take your children from you.

Point is, until you walk in someone else's shoes do not assume that you know exactly what's going on.

It's too bad emotional abuse isn't illegal. She sounds unhinged. A home visit might be in order to scare her.

I was walking into Nordstrom's from then parking garage and a woman, I believe was a grandma, was walking through the last set of doors out of the store. She was wearing a baby (approximately 6 months so kind of big) in a front pack and holding the hand of about a 4 1/2 year old boy and a 2 1/2 year old girl.
The little boy exited first and as the woman entered the door frame the little girl pulled back and the baby's head hit the door jam. Baby did not cry but the woman was furious with the little girl and yelled her name and out of frustration immediately slapped her full on in the face. Palm to the face. Pretty hard. The girl screamed and then could not catch her breath and the woman moved outside the door and got down on the little girls level and continued screaming at her. It was so disturbing. Several people had to have seen and just ignored it.

Any good ides for an appropriate response or was ignoring it the way to go. I really feel like the woman had a terrible response. But I am sure she was just stressed out.
