No interest in "succeeding" at dating. Happy to date if I meet someone I like who is willing to accommodate my schedule. But past the point in life where I am going to give up the activities that are most important to me. If a guy can't accept that not interested. Also don't think a guy is responsible for my happiness. Great to enjoy someone's company but I am responsible for me. And I know a lot more about what makes me laugh and excited then I did when married. Would think that would be appealing to men out there. A third way. Not just sex. But not marriage. Two adults who really know themselv enjoying each other's company when both have time.

The other thing to keep in mind is scheduling. As the mom, you often have the kids every other weekend and 4 nights during the week--1 evening free during the week. As the dad, you often have the kids every other weekend and 1 night during the week--4 evenings free.

As the mom, I'm involved in a lot of my kids activities and volunteer. My one free weeknight is often spent in PTA meetings, Girl Scout planning sessions, GS trainning, swim team booster meetings, etc. i just don't have time to date.


I think to succeed at dating, you need to make the time. In this case, that means punting on PTA, swim team, and Girl Scouts. You're trying to change your life, not fill one evening every other weekend swim team permitting.

I'm divorced, 41 and split 50/50 and I'm dating. My kids are young but I have 3 free evenings and every other weekend free. It's possible to date.

This is definitely my life. I guess dating really is out of the question. I thought it would be easier now that my child is older, but I guess not.

You think DC is bad for women? Try NYC, it's worse 10 times over. Everyone says it's better out west but the supposedly better ratio is masked by a high population of gay men (in places like San Fran, Seattle). LA isn't good either. If a woman in DC can't compete with the top of the pack, the top girls would eat her alive in DC.

A dad Just turned 50 with kids and no one wants to date me. Even the 40-45 yr olds with kids. The 50 women don't have kids or they're older kids etc

Does this really make you undateable? I've met different guys single, divorce, older, younger, kids, no kids, but for some reason they're not looking for someone that's been divorced and has a child. Anyone else have this issue? It's kind of frustrating and depressing to me!
