Yup. Jolly will drop out; others will probably follow. So it will come down to Rubio vs. Patrick Murphy, and with luck a big Clinton win will put Murphy over the top.

It sounds like he needed an excuse to jump back in and this is not a great one, but it'll do.

5 overall republican losses would give democrats a senate majority, I think. I can't find the source of that math. Ha ha anyone have a good current seat count? Jk. I heard it is 5. That seems about right.

Registered republican here. About congressional races being just like the general...it is definitely happening.

I looked up the state of the Florida senate race. There are 5 republicans running? This is way too many, just like the republican primaries. This will divide and allow a D to win. If Rubio will step in, at least two running will drop, bringing it to max 4 Rs. Plus at that point the donors will coalesce around Rubio and make it a string campaign. I think it's the only chance for that seat.

It is already happening. Todd Wilcox, small time guy running R for the senate in Florida: "as a conservative, I have no intention of leaving this race just because another career politician gets in."

I'm not talking about Obama or defending him, nor am I dissing trump. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see to what degree republican races mirror the gop divide during the primaries/presidential election. Dem races too, I suppose, but I think they unify so well around their pets (abortion, so-called evil republicans, adding rights all over the place).

I think the timing was imminent because donors were ready to give to Carlos Lopez-Cantera who was running R (and will presumably step aside now), but the donors and everyone it seems preferred Rubio. Before they invested, they wanted to be sure what's really happening.

With trump's mess, republicans are worried about keeping his senate seat. Can you blame them? Trump will be disastrous for all down ticket elections.
