So what should students be doing this week? And at what grades?

why can't teachers pack up after the students are no longer in the building?

I agree--that's what I meant to say

I is counted as an instructional day. this is annoying me too. Not movies but recess is almost full-day now. packing up takes place after the year is over.

As a HS teacher the reality is that few kids show up. Grades are in and finals have been taken. What kind of instruction do you really expect to take place?

HS teacher here

Make up work for the failing students. Movies and games for everyone else. I need to pack up my room, enter grades, and put together my IMPACT stuff for the year.

My kid is working on multiplication related activities this week - getting ready for upcoming year.

No way! What schools is this at? That is totally not acceptable. There is school for another week and they added EXTRA days for instruction due to the snow. Principals need to do their job and ensure instruction is taking place, at the very least interactive games.

Yup. Movies and tv shows all day the last week last year, some I thought were not age appropriate for 3 year olds.

What grade? Some teachers do this at my DD's public school (not in DC). Her teacher didn't but some of the "easy" teachers did the last week or two of school (apparently - who knows what they really do at school!).

What movies? So you don't remember watching movies or playing outside the last week of school so your teacher could finish end of the year requirements and pack up the room? Some of you might even remember helping your favorite teacher pack up the room.

My kid, in one of the MoCo schools that gets lots of love, watched Frozen in a High School foreign language class. In English (not even subtitled!). And no, before you ask, the language was not Swedish or Norwegian or Arendellian or whatever Elsa speaks.
