Good Grief! That's third grade! Just a seat belt.

Backless booster is fine at that age, but I'd be concerned about the weight. She absolutely needs to be in a car seat.

When she is 60 pounds, I would do an incognito.

The reason is probably that most of her friends are out of carseats entirely by age 8.

An anonymous stranger knows better than her what is comfortable? How do you know this?

She is an adult who still rides backwards in a carseat because her weight is still in the car seat range.

She has a lot of experience riding in and testing car seats and boosters.

High back boosters were for head and neck protection in cars that didn't have head rests in the back seats. As long as a booster correctly positions the belt, both at the lap and across the chest, it is safe.

She doesn't need a car seat any more.

Boosters (even the high back ones) are just belt positioners. If the belt fits without it, she doesn't need the high back. If it doesn't fit, she needs the high back.

It depends on your car and the seatbelt placement. Is the high back needed to position the seatbelt correctly? If not, then she doesn't need it. When my DS (avg. size) was 8 he needed the highback booster in our minivan. When we replaced that with a small wagon, he didn't need it.

My 8 year old daughter is really unhappy that she is still riding in a high-back booster. We use the backless booster in my husband's car, but since she is in my car 90% of the time, and we frequently do long road trips, I prefer her to be in the high back. She claims its less comfortable and really wants just a regular booster in my car. She is tiny, about 48 lbs for her age. Curious of what others are using and any guidelines to follow. thanks
