I'm 3 weeks PP and don't think I look pregnant at all. I'm still 13 pounds up from pre-preg. weight, but I'm wearing firm control underwear and I think it's helping with shaping quite a bit.

Target has these fabulous underpants - can't remember the brand but they're marketed for "muffin top." They're normal underwear with just a little soft panel on the top. Just enough to hold it in without hurting like some spanx or something do. I loved them from 1-4 months and still wear them.

Thanks for all the replies! Between the lochia and cramping, it feels like I should be losing some size (plus the nurse said my abdomen is still quite swollen) but sounds like it will be more like 2+ weeks before I see noticible change. Ordered a belly binder and already had planned on loose fitting clothes for pictures - thanks!

in 2 weeks, I went from looking 7 months to looking 5 months. Continued to shrink to where i look 2 or 3 months pregnant (just thick in the middle) at 8 weeks postpartum. Im 10 pounds away from prepreggp weight and expect only diet and exercise will get me the rest of the way.

+2. Glad to hear your belly eventually shrank. I'm 5 months PP and my belly is still bigger than my breastfeeding D cups.

Have this top in two colors. It's a staple right now: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B013VS3XM4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wear something to hold you in and wear black. Photographers know how to hide the belly.

Mine shrunk pretty significantly in those first 2 weeks. I went from looking 7 mos pregnant in my "coming home" photo to just chubby with potbelly in those 1st two weeks. I was down to my pre-preg weight by 6 weeks but I still have a belly and nothing is in the same place. I'm still at least a size or two bigger 9 weeks out.

I looked 6 months postpartum for 2 weeks. Then my belly gradually began to shrink. But I still have a very long way to go. I my now 6 months pp and have lost about 10 pounds. But cannot fit into any of my prepregnancy outfits. It is a gradual process. At some point I will start working out. Be easy on yourself. It took 9 months to get to that weight so it will definitely take time to shred it off. Some women are just lucky and don't show that much weight.

Are you nursing? That should really help your uterus shrink.

This. Try to eat healthy and get some exercise in. Your weigh will fluctuate as you end breastfeeding, if you are doing it too.

You can help things along by wearing a belly binder

I recently gave birth, and unsurprisingly, I still look 6mo pregnant. We are doing some newborn photos in a week-- how much did your belly shrink in the first 10 or so days postpartum? I'm not talking about dieting/trying to lose weight, just interested to hear if people saw any differences between immediately posrpartum and 1 wk/10 days pp in terms of fluid loss/uterus shrinking/Etc. if the answe is "none", that's fine- just curious.
