My kid is in 3rd grade, so we have plenty of time to find out what AAP is. We're new to this part of the country...so, thanks for the info!

Well, most kids start AAP 3rd grade, so no, you don't have time to find out. Your DC should have only been in the program for a year.
But welcome to NOVA, which is nothing like ROVA. And to DCUM, where if you ask such a basic question in the wrong forum without doing a site search or google search first, you will get snarky answers. So, DCUM 101:
