A lot of kids are driven to school by parents working at Capitol Hill, especially the ones living in MD and VA.

Thought you had to LIVE in DC to attend Basis? Or is this another silly me moment?

No, you dont have to live in DC. You pay and you attend the school.

According to OSSE, one BASIS family lived out of state and paid tuition in 2014-15. Everyone else must prove their DC residency and attends tuition free, just like at every other public charter school.

Your best bet is to call the school. I drop off my dd at school everyday and I sometimes see a van dropping off a group of students. I don't know what part of the city the bus comes from.

Glover park families have paid for a private van the last few years. if you want that, call the school and ask for a contact. LOTS of kids take the public bus.

There is a van from the Palisades. Most of the older kids just take the D6 (straight shot). This year, many of the 5th graders joined older kids on the bus. There are also some carpools for pickup.

Contact the Head of Operations, Heather Vita (heather.vita@basisdc.org) who answer this question.

While the school doesn't arrange vanpools she deals with their dropoff/pickup logistics and can tell you what is happening now.

But PP is right - most kids take buses or Metro.

My kid takes the 30 buses-- drops off about 2 blocks from school.

Hi. This question is only about transportation.

I've heard there is (usually?) a van or shuttle from....the Palisades, and/or Glover Park, and/or Georgetown... That parents pool together to rent a van and provide transpiration for the kids commuting to Basis. I'm looking for ANY information about this. Thanks.
