Sadly, Asians rape too just like others. Literacy or illiteracy has nothing to do with it. It's a crime of violence not relegated to any one group.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there were two witnesses (the Swedish grad students) who stopped him in the middle of raping her when it was so clear that the girl was not moving and was unconscious. They chased him and tackled him to the ground when he tried to run away. If he's simply having consensual sex then why run? Also, he was convicted by a jury of 3 counts of sexual assault (I don't remember the exact charges, but there were multiple). I don't think there is any doubt that this kid sexually assaulted this girl, except in his own mind (and that of his parents).

And to the OP's point, that letter was truly painful to read! That kid had absolutely no business being at Stanford or any other top school for that matter.

This is why sports should not play any role at all in the admissions process. Somebody who writes this poorly does not belong at such a prestigious school. And clearly the "diversity" he brings by being an athlete is not the type that makes the campus a better place.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that story earlier today! My opinion of Stanford and their recruits has dropped significantly.

I think the fact that the Swedes intervened shows that there was more going on then what he describes.

Most people do not get involved especially on a busy college campus with drunk partiers. The fact that they did shows that something was seriously wrong.

Yes, if he's an Olympics prospect. BTW, I'm a Stanford grad -- loved it there, but, at all schools, you'll find some -- not all -- hooked students who aren't that impressive intellectually.
