Age: 7-9 sexual abuse by a babysitter. Male.

I told everyone I was supposed to after the first instance. And was firmly rebuked and informed that this sort of thing just "doesn't happen" in THIS community (Main Line Philadelphia).

What did the babysitter do?

It take years of therapy for a CSA (child sex abuse) victim to even say out loud that this happened, it is super insensitive to ask "what" the babysitter did. The poster is brave to even post it. A CSA victim is trained from a very young age to lie about it and never talk about it.

Go fuck yourself.

Lovely.

Actually I agree with fuck yourself. Why are details so important unless it's to get some perv's rocks off?

Age7-8: molested by same-age friend at multiple sleep-overs under the idea that we were "practicing for our future boyfriends." I never told about that. I actually did the same thing to another friend during a sleepover thinking that that's what you did. She never told, as far as I know. I feel tremendous guilt about having done that to her.

Age 9/10: male babysitter grabbed my vagina. Told my mom, she and stepdad immediately left to go speak to his parents who were our next door neighbors.

I'm so sorry. I hear this so often - I told parents, teachers, etc, yet was completely shut down. So awful.

Date rape that I've only come to realize recently now twenty years later was date rape.

Very intoxicated, said no repeatedly, but didn't fight back.

I actually felt guilty for a long time since I'd invited him back to my apartment, we'd been making out and I knew he had a long-distance relationship. Thought that, even though I'd said no, I let it happen meant it was consensual.

Never told anyone.

Too drunk to consent after a date. Pretty sure I said no though. Never told or did anything.

Post 06/08/2016 08:51     Subject: Your experience with sexual abuse...and if you ever told.

I'll start:

-sexual grooming and one instance of sexual contact by father (age 9)
-inappropriate touch from strange man (age 11/12)
-approached by man to watch sex act (age 13)
-inappropriate communication - flirtation and sexual discussion - from HS freshman English teacher (age 13/14)
-not exactly rape but not exactly not rape; first time having sexual intercourse (age 16)
-forced to perform oral sex (age 17)
-coworker grabbed vagina (age 19)
-flashed in public library (age 19)
-while I was sleeping boyfriend started having sex with me (age 20)

This is to say nothing of verbal sexual harassment I, like all women, contend/ed with on a regular basis.

The Brock Turner conviction is bringing up a familiar narrative of the prevalence of sexual abuse in our society, and the relatively low reporting rate.

So, I'm curious: what's been your experience? And did you ever tell?
