In Arlington, Monday is skills all u9-u11 players practice tighter at longbridge. Then teams will have 2 practice days with the entire age group at same time/place. At these practices you practice with your team, so A and B will work with their coach/ assistant coach.

With the big increase in teams, I wonder what they will do about skills. It was crowded when there were 4 teams per age group. Now, with 6 teams per age/gender--it will be a zoo!

Nope. They will all be at the same field, but they do not practice together.

My kids have been with this club for four years.

The kids on our A team do not even know the names of C-F players...nor do the coaches.

They will never scrimmage one another.

It's best to manage your expectations early.

It's becoming more common these days.

ASA has weekly team practices and weekly pooled practices, as well as some skills sessions that are pooled. (all the same-age teams together.)

Arlington or Alexandria?

Arlington (ASA) doesn't do any pooled practices.

It really depends on the club. At ours, FPYC, they do practice together at the younger ages.

Mostly no. It depends on the coaches and clubs too. My DS's club want to be able to play up or down their players throughout the season in Team A and B, so they practice or scrimmage together if they practice at the same field and time, or overlap time at the same field. It also helps when the coaches can work with each other for the same goal of the club.

Totally depends on the club. Ours does -- but we are a small club. It is actually one of the main reasons I prefer the small club atmosphere. If you kid is mediocre, it's the best way to ensure he/she gets exposure to the best training. In the big clubs, from what I hear, the teams below A & B can get ignored and don't always have great access to top training.

No not all clubs do that. And I think that majority don't

Some do and some do not. If you are on the lower team, you want to practice with the A team because you'll get exposure to the best players and the coaches will know who you are.

And please ignore the typo in the thread title. I was typing on my phone.

DS is new to travel soccer. A friend told me that the A, B and C teams at our club will be practicing together. Are all clubs this way?
