We found a $60 modern desk at Target that is fairly small. We put it in a corner of the family room, stocked it with a lamp of her choice and some reference books - a kids' dictionary, a kids' thesaurus, and moved her pads and pencils there. She loves it.

IKEA probably has some good options for you for a small size or nook desk. And I've seen some great ideas on Pinterest using IKEA stuff.

Mine got one-her daddy redid the playroom with an IKEA hacked built in unit on one wall. She barely uses it for homework because she instead throws all her play shit all over it. It's like a very visible junk drawer.

My DS is six and I have been thinking of whether I should add a desk to his room as well. Probably in a year or two. Up to now, she has done her coloring, projects on the kitchen table. She has asked for a desk several times in the last few months. Her room, which she shares with her 4yo brother, is on the other side of the house. Is there such a thing as a rolling desk? Or something like a nook desk for the kitchen where most of our life takes place (both parents woth)? The little brother will be all over it, so maybe something large? Two desks? stick with the kitchen table? I dont want to sink money and space into something that may not be utilized.... what are your experiences? TIA!
