Re 3 -- They do integrated math. Students are placed based on recommendations from their feeder schools and observations by teachers in first few weeks of school. You need to ask the administration how kids coming from non-feeders are assessed.

Re 4 -- Yes they are scheduled to be at Walter Reed building by 2017-18.

Here are the results from 15-16 and seats offered for 16=17.

You can see how many from wait lists were offered slots by language track and grade last year. Obviously this varies by year.

My child will apply to DCI for 6th grade but is not in a feeder school. Child is already bilingual but I know that doesn't help in the lottery system.

A few questions that I hope some parents can answer:

1. What are the chances of getting in for 6th from a non-feeder school?

2. Can anyone whose child came from a non-feeder school talk about the social adjustment in 6th if your child arrives not knowing any of the other kids?

4. I see that the school day doesn't end till 4 or 4:15 pm Mon-Thurs (the website gives 2 different times), with 1:00 dismissal Friday. Will this schedule continue? 4:00/4:15 end time makes it very difficult for children who do serious after school activities such as a travel sport.
