Not true. I know of a few kids who spent the entire school day (except lunch) on their math SOL at my child's ES.

What is this 6 hours? Each elementary test takes about 1 hour to complete.

My DD failed hers last year (3rd) and the school asked if we wanted to get her into a two-week remediation class and then have her re-take it. We asked what she wanted to do, and she sad she wanted the re-take, so we let her. When she did pass, she was very proud of her accomplishment. We also got her a tutor during the summer, and the following school year, and this year she scored more than 100 points higher than last year. We did not get "the call" officially yet, but her teacher shared her score with her and us, because she was very excited about DD's improvement, knowing how hard she worked all year.

No one is going to admit to this on DCUM. But, yeah, if my kid failed an SOL I would want them to do a retake.

Not sure what the advantage would be to not doing a retake. Maybe she would get more help next year? Summer school?

Maybe someone who knows the ins/outs of it all will chime in.

Also, if your child didn't pass, did you do a re-take? Mine didn't pass one, but we didn't want her to retake because I think she'd do worse knowing she didn't pass the first time. It would stress her out. She almost passed though!
