DS is 13. Significant ADHD/hyperactive=type but it's only his brain that's hyperactive, not his body.

1) checking and re-checking things (OCD-like)

2) has to make his bed the second he gets out of it, even if it makes him late for school

3) he can be very funny, but hates it when we laugh. He seems to have an automatic reaction where he thinks we are laughing AT him instead of laughing because he's funny.

Pacing. Same route every time... half way up the stairs, back down and across the living room. Turn. Repeat.

If there's a loud noise going on like a vacuum cleaner, he competes to be louder with just random noise.

Play games with fingers in class instead of listening

Mine sometimes weaves his head around and stared vacantly. But not on the mess.

Yes. When my 8 year old is not on meds he is erratic, talks nonstop, puts everything in his mouth and chews on his shirt or other things (sometimes wildly inappropriate, like his shoe or a tissue). He fights more with his brother, has little impulse control, and just generally seems more like a 4-5 year old.

My inattentive ADHD 11 year old, before he was on meds, was simply not there.

You could wave a hand in front of his face and he wouldn't react - he was inside his own mind, having wonderful adventures.

Which is why we put him on meds and he hasn't been off them since. He went from failing to consistently scoring in the 98-99% percentile on tests.

My son is on meds for ADHD. Occasionally he spend the night at his friend's house and doesn't take his meds the next day. He talks non-stop and it's just stream of consciousness. He is jittery and cannot not move. He basically loses a good 5 years from his age with how he behaves. I can't think of anything really odd but when you get used to him being on meds and he doesn't take them for a day, he seems like a kindergartener to me (and he's in 5th grade).
