Just an fyi, you can always ask your vet to come to your house to euthanize, when I had to put my dog down I knew it was coming. I hated the thought of her last moments being on the vets table. She got to lay on her bed at home in my arms, it was$130 or somewhere around there. Don't know how much it costs in the office but I thought it was worth it. Afterwards we took her to a crematorium ourselves.

Thanks everyone. They said they think it's just a bacterial infection clogging him up so much that he can't smell the food. Hoping a good course of antibiotics clears him up.

Something similar happened with our cat and they put her in an oxygen chamber. She fully recovered.

This was our cat a few years ago. We put him through five days of emergency vet visits and he ended up having a seizure and dying in his carrier when we were driving home. I so wish we had put him down at the vet so we could have been by his side.

3 hours later, still no update from the emergency vet except that he's still getting oxygen and that they were going to do X-rays. They won't let me see him. I'm about to take him home and to our regular vet in the morning. I am feeling like this place is a scam. I just want to see how he's doing.

She was thinking maybe he ate a houseplant? But I think all of our plants are cat friendly. They do tend to chew on the leaves and then like a lot (I have 2).

He was fine last night. I go to work early and didn't see him, she didn't really notice anything was off until this afternoon. He's 12, has always wheezes a bit, but the vets always dismissed it when i would mention it, but he's been sneezing a lot for the past few months, like with lots of snot.

Is he a healthy cat or old/sick cat?? how was he this morning?

I understand that he probably needs to be euthanized. I just wish we could give him something at home . Thanks for the kind words.

P.S. If he's barely breathing, he may be in shock and not aware of where he is. Just talk to him so he can hear your voice, pet him like you usually do so he knows you're there, and let the vet do what he has to do, IF nothing else can be done.

It is a really hard thing to do, I know it, I've been there so many times. Listen to what the vet tells you as to if your cat is suffering, and act in his/ her best interest.
