Neither mormons nor baptists are cults. Cults are lead by a living charismatic leader. Both may have started as cults, but the charismatic leader is long dead and they are no longer cults.

What Baylor did was actually very, very un-football culty. I bet most P5 schools are keeping similar problems under wraps, and it's incredible that Baylor is actually taking efforts to fix their problems.

Some fans are irrational sure, but all sports have some irrational fans.

No more so than Mormonism. But I digress. ?

Mormons veer off on Joseph Smith and golden plates, among other non-biblical beliefs. That meets the definition of a cult.

Well, the difference here is that they sacked the incredibly successful football coach and demoted the chancellor and AD. Lots of schools have these issues (football players are a pretty rape prone bunch on average) and sweep them under the rug. Baylor should never have acted they way they did, but give them a little credit for cleaning house.

Agreed.

Lol. Do u guys sleep in the same bed? Credit for being caught? Otherwise these rapes go on and on and on ...

As far as response, could have been earlier, and would have been better if it were their own response to the issues instead of after it hit the press, when their response was essentially crisis management PR. Nonetheless, it was a good start.

Agreed; should have been a lot earlier, but it's still more than many schools would have done.

Actually, I went to graduate school in Texas (different university) and Baylor is not at all a football cult, at least not to the level of the two flagship schools (UT & Texas A&M). Baylor's success is a recent phenomenon and is probably due to a lowering of standards to attract better athletes, who are not likely to be the most upstanding of citizens.

OP offers no evidence Baylor is a cult.

Ignore.

It's the largest Baptist university in the world. What exactly did you expect?
