Many MFMs will do pre-conception appointments for people who had issues with their first pregnancies, though they won't see you as a pregnant patient until you have an OB. At least in the DC area, I found pre-conception referrals were only necessary if your insurance required it (which, admittedly, many do, so you should check; mine didn't for OBGYNs and the MFM preconsult qualified as that).

Hi - I'm ready to start thinking about #2, but given a past experience with a preterm birth (33 weeks), I would like to meet with a MFM specialist before trying to conceive. Any suggestions, with bonus points for someone located in/around downtown DC? Thank you!
