I am in this exact situation! Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope babies come before vacation.

I did too but mine still went away on vacation and I delivered with someone I had never met before. It was my first kid and it was not a great birth experience. We didn't click at all. See if you can have some appts with the other provider or at least meet once beforehand. OP is lucky it's not her first.

Make sure you have a couple appointments with the backup OB just in case so you at least know the person who delivers your baby, but honestly, it really doesn't matter unless you're having a difficult delivery, it's not like the doctor is in the room for very long.

I had a different OB deliver both my kids. It's very common. Don't stress about it.

This happened to me! My baby came early and my doc was on vacation. Another OB filled in - I had never met or heard of her before. She was great!

Hi all-- just learned today that my solo practitioner OB will be on a two-week vacation starting three days after my due date (which is in early July). He works with another solo practitioner OB to provide back-up, so if I deliver more than three days after my due date, it will likely be with the back-up provider. I know that this isn't the worst thing in the world, but I'm really bummed. This will be my second child, and my first delivery was a bit complicated and scary. Any thoughts about how to keep this all in perspective? I'm feeling scared and a bit abandoned.

Plus, a random older guy at 7-11 today looked me up and down and said, "looks like twins." (It's not. Not that it matters.) I know people get this kind of comment all the time, but the license that people, particularly men, feel to comment on women's pregnant bodies is really galling to me. I'm just fuming.
