If I would let your teen dress up anyway they would like on one. They know what's best in style these days

Not the OP, but since DD (now 14) was six she has hated dresses. She's worn one once. ONCE - to her elementary school graduation. When she dresses up, she wears a clean, unwrinkled t and jeans without rips in them.

+1, this is exactly what I would recommend. Please make sure the skirt is not too short. ~2" above the knee, max. Yes, it matters.

One step up from whatever the dress code for the office is. If you don't know, slacks or skirt + button-down or sweater/cardigan.

I'm having trouble picturing what type of office job would have a uniform - would she be staff at a rec center or something like that?

My son owns a suit. He wore it to his interview (and got the job).

Why not just buy a nice dress? Or black trousers over khakis--more versatile. Surely she will need something nice for school awards events or some sort of occasion?

I would say anything but jeans with anything but a t-shirt.

Khakis are fine but black pants would be ok too. With a nicer top or even tank/cardigan combo.

OP here. I'm sorry. I should have clarified. I have no problem spending the $, I just don't know what she should wear.

If you don't want to spend the money for new clothes, go to a thrift store and buy her a pair of nice pants and a nice button down shirt. She buy a pair of cheap flats at Target.

Young girls can wear same outfit as young boys, khakis and button down shirt

Look, if she got the job, she'd need to get clothes for it, right? So get her an outfit that would be appropriate if she had the job.

Pants (not leggings, jeans or yoga) and a sweater works. Skirt and sweater works.

If your teen is interviewing for a summer job/internship that is in a more professional/office type environment, what do they wear? Specifically, I'm asking about females. I tend to think the dress code is different than if you are looking for a lifeguard job or a position at the frozen yogurt store. My child doesn't really own anything other than skinny jeans and tshirts - we don't really get dressed up - we don't go to church or anything like that, where you would think one might wear "nicer" attire.
