I have done it, but I asked our son's psychiatrist to fill out the form our school system requires so that I can keep a few pills in the health room at school, so the school nurse can administer them, if necessary. It's a nuisance as you have to provide the bottle they came in -- I've heard some pharmacies will give you a labeled bottle for that purpose. But I'll be working many miles from school in a few months (knock wood!), so the hoops were a small price to pay. DS tends to melt down if I come around at school, so better for the teacher just to sidetrack him to the health office. On support forums, I've read parents saying some schools can be prickly about this. Our school has been great.

You're right ! Just leaving the school they called her down to the office and gave her the pills there!

We did. DD is 12 and has a days of the week pill case that I fill up on Sunday. She's responsible for taking it in the morning. She called from the school and said she had forgotten and asked if a parent could bring it. I'm thrilled that: (1) she is taking her medicine (because getting her to agree that she needed it was a six month battle), (2) she is being responsible about it, and is taking it seriously, and (3) she has decided it helps and is wiling to admit she needs it.

I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize 1-3 above. It took us too long to get there.

Lord, yes. This is not forgetting to hand in homework and getting a bad grade for it. This is critical medication. My child could cross the parking lot in front of the school bus if he wasn't on meds.

Absolutely. My son has extreme difficulty without it. His teachers work very hard with him. I wouldn't want to put him or his teachers through a day without his medication.

Yes. I have driven to school and give it my DD. She cannot function at all without the medicine. It is not embarassing. If you don't want the other kids to see, just have her come to the nurse's office.

I would but never have had to. We have had to turn around after leaving the house to have child take meds before.

Today, I was busy and accidentally forget to give her the medication,for her adhd. Should I go to the school and have her take it? The school said its okay but is it embarrassing? Have anyone ever done it? First time I forget to give her since she started taking in February
