Basically its so that you can check everything is as it should be and there are no unexpected horrors (expenses) like a stinking fridge or a cluttered attic to worry about.

I would not go around with a lamp testing the outlets.

The person who suggested this, is a very sad soul indeed.

A walk through isn't a full house inspection, one should have been done already.

Give us just a bit of background on the house, things like age, size, price range, etc. IME different properties have different likely issues

Or you could use the walk through form provided by the agent. It mirrors the contract, but this check list does not.

given all this rain, check for any unexpected moisture/leak issues, especially if you have a basement.

Did the sellers have to make any repairs following the home inspection? If so, check to see that those are done and done to your satisfaction.

Otherwise, check to see if everything is still in working order as it was at the home inspection or contract date, whichever your contract specifies. Check everything on PP's list above to see if they work.

check all appliances, heating, cooling, hot water heater

everything is removed from attic, garage, basement storage, garden shed, under deck

everything is out of dishwasher, washer, dryer

you have all keys and that they work on all lock

you have all garage door remotes and that the garage door opener works

make sure you have any codes for security system, garage door, sprinkler system

OP -- generic lists -- obviously if no sprinkler system, don't need to check it

We are closing next week and have just scheduled our walk-through. What reasonable things should I be looking out for that should be addressed by the sellers?
