Have you worked retail before?
Just because a store opens at 10 AM on a weekday, doesn't mean employees come in at 9:55 AM. Employees can get stocking done before customers can walk in, and that is partly why stores open later. Also, stores are open till 8 PM (at least) which helps the office workers get to a store after work.
I think it is good that malls open at 11 AM on Sunday, as someone said, gives employees a chance to go to church and managers to work out the schedule so there is a balance between the non church and church going employees.
Some of y'all need to get out of your little bubbles and think outside the box.

And what's useful about the mall is that I can kill a bunch of birds with a single outing - fit him for shoes, return a skirt, buy some eyeliner, some see house stuff in person that I've ogled on the interwebs. I can go to a bunch of individual stores in strip malls, which seem to be open earlier. But it's a much greater hassle to drag an unwilling kid around like that, and a big waste of time and gas to drive and park at six different places.

I know the history of blue laws, grew up in MA when they were in effect, and I'm totally supportive of religious observance - my kids go to weekly religious ed and services on Sundays. But noon just seems punitive. Last time I went without checking and Montgomery Mall was packed at 1030am full of people waiting to get into stores. And yes, I know I could go on Saturdays but w/multiple kids & sports & birthday parties, sometimes I need to do something useful on Sunday as well. Are there laws that still prohibit earlier openings?
