Barry Bond tweeted the video because his daughter is one of the few black kids in her grade. There are plenty of other celeb kids that attend Brentwood (I believe Reese Witherspoon's older kids attend).

Nope. That's not what I said and that's not cultural appropriation (look up what it means and then come back). I definitely think it's inappropriate for white children and adults to rap the N word even though it's in a popular rap song.

I read about this, and while I don't know all the details, it seems like an over-reaction? Unless the students made racist comments to someone, or, made racist declarations that made students feel uncomfortable? Seemed like a bunch of stupid kids doing stupid crap.

The Brentwood School controversy appears to stem from certain students there who recorded themselves singing A$AP Ferg's "Dump, Dump".

Children today, in public schools and private schools alike, worship and idolize African American rap and hip-hop artists, music, and culture. They do.

I mean, I hear kids as young as elementary age rapping the lyrics to Desiigner's "Panda", which unfortunately contains the particularly offensive "n" word, as well as a lot else that is very objectionable.

Admittedly, it is pretty shocking that kids are going around schoolyards and soccer fields singing this.

Perhaps Tipper Gore was right, after all, and children under a certain age simply should not be listening to the music. Because when they listen to the music, they love the music and artists, then they want to sing along to the music, and in today's age of self-recording, they want to video themselves singing to the music and acting like the artists.

All those album downloads and buys, and the constant radio play, make a lot of money for the artists. So the music industry clearly does not have a problem with kids buying the music and listening to it. But we have to teach our kids that maybe it is not such a good idea to sing along to it (which used to be half the fun with music), and that it is certainly a terrible idea to record yourself doing so.
