what field?

I work in an obscure area so I don't want to say, but it doesn't matter.
I work for the World Bank. Every staff member starts with 26 days., then 28 at 5 years and 30 at10 years.

While I am at a fairly high level, it doesn't matter. Since it is an international organization, people at all levels tend to take several weeks off at a time.
Not everyone takes 5 weeks but 3 or 4 is fairly common.

August is so dead around that office the most of the cafeterias close a couple of the stations.

Not Op, but people invest time and money to get degrees and certificates for all sorts of reasons; this one is as good as any.

This probably doesn't apply in your situation, but contract lobbyists can often take all of August off since Congress is gone and things slow down.

I'm a nurse and I work per diem. I take summers off.

This. My mom was a principal of a SN school - she always sad that being an OT or PT at her school or a similar school was an awesome job. Really nice pay with summers off.

You can hire a babysitter for the summer so your kids don't continuously have to go to camp. I can't think of any other jobs.

DH and I were just discussing how tough it will be to arrange summer childcare when the kids are in school....brainstorming kinds of work that might allow summers off. Of course teaching, but what else might have that option?
