I have an aversion to the phrase "true freshman". It cracks my husband up because I cringe every time a sportscaster says it.

Not words but phrases. I hate titles that start with an -ing word: Serving Sarah, etc. They just make me cringe SO painfully inside. I'm not sure why.

NYT put out a list of the most popular word aversions, some of which I don't get. That said, I have one that is like nails on a blackboard for me!
Per NYT some of the words are:
-crevice
-probe
-flesh
-ointment
-gargle
My only word aversion is PANTIES
Ugh I HATE that word!
For my DD it's the word "moist", which does not bother me at all.
