We're one year out, but teachers are fantastic. There was a robotics club, and I recall them adding an athletic club, but not girls on the run. The clubs were run by the administration, so there were fewer options than you might be used to from a higher income school.
They also had school activity busing to transport kids within a certain neighborhood area. We were out of school bounds, but close enough in to be able to take advantage of that. 5th grade did have field trips, including going to see a Shakespeare play.
Don't know the school changes with the new principal, but we were quite happy there. The administration strongly believed in not overwhelming kids with homework just because they are gifted. There was a strong emphasis on the whole child and having the time to do other things after school.
