I was told this about one of my eye teeth in fifth grade: that there was no permanent one to take its place.

Senior year of HS, I lost it and a perfectly normal permanent tooth came in.

Try to keep it as long as she can.

She cannot just have a space. There are things they can do to keep the space open until she's old enough for an implant. She does need dental care so that her upper palate stays wide once there's no tooth.

And don't worry. Tons of people live happy lives with damaged front teeth. I have to get repairs done every few years on two of mine, and it has no impact on anything. My niece has no front tooth (due to accident). My husband has a fake one (you can't tell)...

For us it was because x-ray did not show any adult teeth in the gums waiting to come down. It's also hereditary and other people in my family had this issue.

My nearly 80 year old mother still has one of her baby teeth, as there was no permanent tooth behind it. It's important to keep that tooth in her mouth so that the bone around it develops. If the bone atrophies, she will need a bone graft. Much better to have the bone already in your jaw. This is not all that uncommon. Keep your dental insurance and if any dentist tells you to take that tooth out and use a flipper, get another dentist.

My adult son is missing several adult teeth, the most noticeable being two front bottom teeth. They made him a retainer with fake teeth on it but he hates it and prefers not to wear it. Worse, he doesn't have enough bone for an implant.m one they started talking about taking bone out of his hip and putting it in his lower jaw he completely said no way. Since it is lower jaw it really isn't so noticeable but someday I suppose he will have a bridge made. For now, it doesn't affect his speech or eating...

My daughter is missing three adult teeth. The baby teeth are not loose and the dentist told me that they would not become loose. They are keeping the baby teeth in her mouth until she gets all her adult teeth. I was told the baby teeth should stay in there until we go to do the implants when she's over 18. They did tell me there are other options such as the one that 14:57 mentioned.

My 8 year old has an orthodontist appointment for this exact issue in a few weeks. He is going to tell me when he will actually do work and what he plans to do.

I have this with one of the teeth next to one of my main front ones. I had to wear a retainer with a fake took on it for years and then I finally got an implant.

Until she's old enough for an implant, she can wear a removable dental plate that looks like a retainer except that it fills in the hole with a false tooth.

Im guessing too that there might be some sort of cosmetic way to put a fake tooth there till you get an implant. Like a retainer or some overlay.

Just saying im so, so sorry OP. ultimately she will need an implant.

My DD (10) complained that one of her front tooth was moving. I told her to stop moving it, since it supposed to be permanent by now...
Today we discovered that it is baby and there would be no permanent tooth (none on x-ray).
I do understand that eventually we can get her implant (after 18), but I hardly can imagine growing for next 8-10 year with hole in front of the mouth.
Does anyone know experienced dentist, periodontist, orthodontist who can help to keep that moving front tooth.
We have Aetna PPO dental...
