OP, if this is through the school's email system, why can't the IT dept trace the sender? Can your attorney submit a request via the courts?

I guess nothing came of this story since I haven't heard anything in the news or any updates here.

So if it was your child being threatened you would just shrug it off?

What did the police tell you to do? Are they going to conduct an investigation?

There is also the office of the ombudsman

But I don't know why you are having trouble getting interest from the press. They are usually happy to report negative things about out County.

OP, when friends were having trouble getting their situation taken seriously by school administrators, they finally had success by getting the involvement of State Senator Victor Ramirez's office.

No personal experience but how about calling and sending a certified letter to Rush Baker, Kevin Maxwell, your rep on the board of education. And CC your principal, head of your PTSA, your attorney, and the police officer handling your case. Make sure they each get a copy.

And ask the ombudsman to help. http://www1.pgcps.org/ombudsman/

Maybe this group could help - scroll down for a sample letter and a link to state laws. And it says "Please contact PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center for more specific guidance regarding your particular circumstances."

If that doesn't help. Go to the press.

Good luck

Hello all,

I have a serious issue that I am dealing with my child's school. She is a 5th grader and she along with 2 other students received email threatening their lives via the school issued computer and email system. The teacher failed to report this upon reading the email; in fact she laughed. I read the email and was horrified as was the other parents involved. I reached out to the teacher via email that evening and received a less than concerned response. We contacted the police ourselves and had them meet us at the school. Long story short... a week later - we are no closer to finding out who did this than we were a week ago. I have called everyone from Area Supervisors to the head of security with the Dept. of Education. This is so bungled with unaccountability, lack of communication, and violations all across the board. We are desperate for help. The police are involved and even THIS doesn't seem to make officials take this serious. Though we have been advised by an attorney that we may have something serious on our hands; we're trying to do this with professionalism and by the book, however, their lack of action and inability to figure out just exactly how to handle this is more than we can take - and as parents - when the lives of our children are compromised...we simply cannot let them sweep this under the rug, because they do not have the resources or the internal administrative support that they need to get this done.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can get some real results? We've been in touch with a few news outlets, but you know how that goes....we need help immediately, as school will be out soon and the computer will be eventually scrubbed of evidence. Meanwhile, our daughters are walking around vulnerable.

Anyone with any referrals or if you've been through this before and can offer us assistance - we would appreciate any help.

Thank you!
