I never went right away, never really went until there was a reason (Xmas, Thanksgiving etc). I don't live close to my family so it didn't make sense.

I went to the hospital but we are close. I would take the kids and go. What's preventing that?

OP, send flowers at the hospital right away if you haven't for having her first baby and Mother's Day.

Could you go up and back for an overnight just you without DH and kids?

I think next week is soon enough. If you had said you couldn't make it for 4 months, and that would be unreasonable. But you can't usually know exactly when a baby is coming so it's hard to plan to be there right then!

Without more detail it is hard to say. But if my sister asked me to come I would be there ASAP. If kids are small then they don't really have any cant miss activities. So either take them or leave them home with spouse.

She wants us to come right away but we cannot because of logistics. She is mad, so I was wondering if we are being unreasonable.

Ummm why not ask her? I enjoyed visitors right away. My best friend pretty much didn't want visitors for 2 weeks because she was trying to figure everything out and didn't want the stress of a guest. Everyone is different.

What time frame do you think is reasonable to visit after a sibling has a baby? Sibling lives a 5 hour car ride away. First baby for her. We have 3 small kids who either would need to come along or we need to figure out arrangements for them.
