Outside of it being easy to swallow, is there anything "different" or better about this medication over Ritalin, Adderral etc?

We are looking to change currents meds.

Could PP please explain further how this copay card works? We picked up our supply this evening and it cost $98 out-of-pocket, after insurance. Not make or break for us, but more than we'd like to pay.

Also, could the pp with the positive experience share the dose you're using? We're starting at .2 ml tomorrow AM, which seems low!

Yikes. $525 per month?!! I'm waiting fir my child's prescription to come in. I sure hope it's covered!

Previous poster again. Also, we had to wait three days for the med to arrive at the pharmacy.

We started Quillavant yesterday. $525 or so for a month pre-insurance (we're covered or there is no way we'd be taking the drug) Had a very positive first day. Calm, not impulsive. One of the benefits (aside from not having to swallow a pill, if that is an issue for your child) is that the liquid offers more flexibility in dosing. Tablets come in set doses. Our prior med (Concerta), the jump up from the dose of 18 mgs(?) was about double. Didn't offer anything in between.

It was always my pet peeve that it was so hard to find ADHD meds - used a lot by small children - in non-pill form. DD ended up learning how to swallow a pill early with a special cup we bought, but the issue still bugged me overall!

It's a been on the market two or three years I think, but doctors aren't using it much because insurance companies make you go through pre-authorization to use it. But if your kid has trouble swallowing pills, it's worth it.

It's a long-acting liquid form of Ritalin for ADHD. Because it's a liquid, it's easier for some kids to take.

Never heard of this medication. I'll google it, but what is it for?

I'm about to start my 6-year-old on it as well. The plan was to start this weekend. However, I phoned a total of 10 pharmacies yesterday to find it, with zero success. So it's now on special order. I gather it's not commonly prescribed.

We tried Quillivant for DD. We were on Twice a day ritalin which was very short acting. Quillivant didn't work well for us, but we are glad we at least tried. It's definitely easier than getting a pill down and once a day dosing is nice. Our problem was that Quillivant lasts too long, so that the effective dose also kept DD up until 1:00 AM.

One bit of advice. The Quillivant comes with a syringe that you use to squirt the liquid into your child's mouth. We found this awkward, so we just poured it into a small medicine cup and had DD drink it.

Starting 6yr old on it next week and looking for general feedback, side effects, positives/negatives, etc.
