Level III services are weekly pullout project hased classes with the AART combined with accelerated math.

In our school, Level III is a pullout and they may do some math-oriented activities, but it is more like problem-solving. For instance, earlier this year they did a segment on innovation and developing new products/ideas to better meet the needs of consumers - i.e., think IDEO and how they work to improve everyday products (google Nightline segment on IDEO and shopping carts). I know students who get pulled for advanced math do not do Level III AAP in the target language.

That said, our program is partial-immersion. YMMV.

My understanding is that it is considered, as is a WISC if you have one. I know when I was talking to the AART about level III in case DD didn't get Level IV, she mentioned that my WISC may be too low for level IV but would be fine for level III. My WISC was a 125. I never ended up using it. I got it because NNAT was not 132 but then CogAT turned out to be 143 so I held onto the WISC especially since the AART said it wouldn't get me into level IV AAP. I thought it made my CogAT look weak.

? The SOL has nothing to do with it.

PP, does that mean NNAT and cogat might not be a factor?

I think you have a strong case for level III but definitely talk to the AART to show your interest and get her input on how to make it happen. Unlike level IV, the local school makes level III decisions so may as well get in her ear.

I am submitting my referral for level III services for my DD. She didn't get in to AAP. We've since had a WISC done and I don't think it supports an appeal but I'd like to at least hope for level III services. She got a 132 on the verbal section of the WISC.

Does that seem like it would be accepted? GBRS 12 and very strong report cards.

Ideally, I'd like her pulled for enrichment but also for language arts and social studies. (We have local level IV). Do I specifically request what I want or leave it to the AART.
