They have closed tryouts for some of the age groups too. Invite only. I don't mind that. My team that was a 5-time VA State and 2-time Eastern Regional winner never had open tryouts. They did make cuts every year. But--we never had formal tryouts. I feel like beginning May 1st nobody is really into the current season/team at our club--everyone is making plans for the following year and attending other tryouts. Takes away from the experience.
Same at our club. Some of the kids have already committed to other teams and telling the rest of the team, etc.
