Honestly, birthdays should just end when you hit 21.
If you want people to celebrate your birthday you have to tell them (1) when it is and (2) what you want them to do.
"Larlo, I was thinking I'd like to celebrate my birthday tonight at that Italian place. I can make a reservation if you're too busy."
