Had quality time with the children (kindergartener and 1st grade) this weekend. I took them to soccer games yesterday, they played in the playground afterwards, we went out to dinner. Today, we went to a park for a hike. They played outside, helped me vacuum and clean the car, we had dinner together. I gave them showers, we had dinner.

After dinner, DH watched a movie with them and put them to bed. Lots of drama, "I want Mummy" drama. I can hear them upstairs giving him a hard time.

Working mom guilt here but some evenings, I have to work. I have a very busy week ahead of me and got behind this week because DH was out of town for work so I had to learn work a little earlier than usual to make it after school pick up, and got into work a little later. Then missed 1 day of work because DD had strep throat.

Good Lord. He wants mummy. You can't spare 30 minutes for your child? You should have guilt as, obviously, what you thinking quality time isn't.

Before you try to guilt and insult the mom, try PROOFREADING! Good lord.

Wow, you feel guilty about THAT? You're crazy! Your kids should feel guilty! And I mean that in the kindest way. Sounds like they have wonderful parents.

Well I am a SAHM and my first grader throws out the "I want Mommy" any night my husband puts her to bed, especially if I am with the little one or in the house doing something else. So don't feel working mom guilt. It doesn't mean anything. They would do it no matter what - SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, etc...

And they need to know DH is just as good as you as putting them to bed. If you cave, it gets worse - they are manipulative suckers. Trust me. You are doing a great job.

What is their bedtime routine? Might be worth it just to tuck them in rather than sit downstairs, not getting any work done, listening.

Sounds familiar. They will grow out of it soon enough. In the meantime, have a glass of wine (if you can still work after that) and don't feel guilty. They will be ok.
