How many families start prepping their children from elementary school for TJ? Science Olympiad, Math Counts, TJ Prep, etc. I would say a good amount from the families that have counted on TJ from a young age...before their child showed any inclination toward giftedness

The percentage of "whites" is certainly declining, but I don't think the total number of "whites" is declining. In terms of raw numbers, it appears that a smaller percentage of qualified "whites" are applying to TJ and hence plan to attend base school.


I'm just referring to the total number of white students in FCPS, irrespective of who applies to TJ. For example, the number of white middle-school students in FCPS has gone from 13,048 in the fall of 2005 to 12,066 in the fall of 2010 and 11,416 in the fall of 2015. Even if nothing else was happening to discourage white students from applying to TJ, you'd expect to see fewer applications from white students given those trends.

Also 1 in 8 is white and 1 in 5 is asian.. So, whats new at TJ ?
