Bumping. What was the process with Neuropsych at children's? Was this the main hospital in DC? I assume you don't get to request a particular provider. Thanks!

My child's neuropsych at childrens hospital was covered by our insurance.

I'm the PP who recommended Dr. Black. We had to pay out of pocket, but we were reimbursed more than we expected from our insurance. With a medical diagnosis (ASD, ADHD), it's not impossible.

If your primary concern is social cognition/social interaction, I can't think of anyone better than David Black. Girls are really hard to diagnose because weak social skills look different from boys' weak social skills, and he really gets it.

We used Dr. Fredricksen at Stixrud. We, too, have a complicated case and she did a great job teasing out what was ADHD, what was anxiety and what was a language disorder. There was some boilerplate stuff (never encountered a provider tht didn't have have some) but it was all very relevant to our DS. Note- much of the educational testing was done by associates in the office. I have no problem with it because it's standardized testing and the associates were well qualified to administer it and note their observations.

Susan Hammond at Stixrud was great. Our child is very complicated, but we felt her diagnosis was exactly right. Suggested accommodations were not as good, but the diagnosis formed a good basis for a school and an advocate to develop a plan.

We used Stixrud earlier this year for a full neuropsych evaluation for 10 year old boy. It was 2 days - first day 9-12, second day 9-2 pm. Then we meet for 2 hours a week later. My only concern with the report was it has a lot of broiler plate language and I would actually have preferred to wait a few more weeks to have more written details about the findings. Some of the accommodations the school needed to do were not well spelled out (more time on standardized tests) and we had to go back to ensure that it was written so that our son would get the extra time he needed. Overall, I thought it was fine.

Lisa Martin, she used to be with Stixrud, now has her own firm, she is simply great.

Our pediatrician as well as the school psychologist have recommended we get the full neuropsych testing done for our 10 year old daughter. Background: very anxious, high sensitivity to smell, taste, touch, sound, perfectionist, smart but easily frustrated (to the point of tears), probably low grade depression, adhd inattentive diagnosis, bottles emotions, easily embarrassed, and more that I'm probably not thinking of right now. I feel like she has more going on than just the adhd when it comes to school and social interaction, so I would like to get a full picture now instead of waiting until middle school when her confidence will have probably taken even more of a nose dive. Can anyone who has recently had the testing done for their child give me a recommendation?
