That's not true. My son is varsity level in two sports, well liked, nice kid and he has friends who are good at sports and some that aren't. I haven't seen the friend groups fall strictly along sports lines at all.

poor choice of words. I am referring to the culture of the school. after what I have read, it seems as though unless you are a lacrosse jock, you are in trouble there. if he were my son, we would have encouraged other schools, and if he were still so set on landon, so be it. I am not sure he has really thought about how the setting might be different than what he has experienced to date with these other you guys men in very different environment.

Why are his sights "set" on Landon? What appeals to him about it? Has he ever visited, been to sport or music events, etc.? If not, then he should. If yes, then there must be some parts of the student body which appeal to him. Assuming he is not young elem school aged (I assume this because I don't know what fourth grader would be laser focused on a particular school without massive parent prompting), then let him be the guide as to whether Landon is a good fit for him.

This time next year my godson, who has his sights set on Landon, will be making decisions. ( assuming he gets in, which is obviously not guaranteed).
I have read the threads on lacrosse culture, many comments on the culture of landon, etc, and the phrase "lord of the flies" has been used more than once, including today.
Our friend's son has older friends who are at Landon, and it is his main choice for school. They fit these stereotypes, quite frankly, while he... no. I don't know. I think it might be a terrible match. He is skinny and european, and is interested in dorky tech stuff.
ANY landon alumni who were NOT lacrosse stars want to weigh in? I sometimes pick him up from school and feel like I need to be prepared for signs of bullying or depression. I want to be a trusted adult if things are not working out, or if he needs someone to talk to other than parents. His family and I are close and they play a similar role in our life....
