Why would you want to say no to him? I don't think it's a big deal if he's responsible enough to take care of it.

Would you feel differently if it was a daughter? That is what he wants and maintained his grades to get it, right?

It's an odd choice. It's not 1991 anymore where a guy having one piercing is cool anymore.

I worry he'll be viewed as weird, rather than cool. I'd get him a magnetic earring and let him walk around for a week with that first, to make sure it gives him the confidence he thinks it will, and that he gets the reaction he expects.

When did maintaining As and Bs become the standard for when kids can start mutilating their bodies?

DS will be turning 12 in a few weeks and wants his ears pierced. He wants both pierced but is fine with only his left ear. Dh isn't thrilled with the idea but he's maintaining all A's and B's in school and is well behaved for his age. It's going to be hard to say "no" to him. He says he wants to step up his swag.
