Women's lib worked fine as in you can do other things than being a nanny, if you have to provide for yourself. Women's lib never promised to turn men into women.
Whether you allow treat you as an object is on you, no public movement can help you there. Choose differently next time.

Read the article. It speculates that there isn't some rise in men who suddenly want a woman with some domestic skills. Rather, in 1939, it was assumed all women did this, where now men can't expect it.
Same with women who want a man who can provide. In 1939, that was a pre-requisite for every man, let alone one ready for marriage. Now, there are so many dead beat men out there who can't or won't provide, women have to consciously prioritize it.
Exceptions to every rule, but the fact women want a strong provider and men want a good domestic partner has not and will not change.

This is not lifting a finger? I'd hate to see what busting my ass looks like. Because, as it is, I get less than 7 hours of sleep per night, and after the stuff I do for work, house, wife, and kids, very few of those waking hours are devoted to anything I'd particularly choose for myself if I was living a life of leisure.

My husband doesn't care if I can cook or build a home, he just wants my paycheck. I want an emotional intimacy I can't get outside of marriage.

It's all about basic biology. No matter how sophisticated we want to appear, men and women are pretty much the same as they were millions of years ago or socially even a few decades past. Take a typical college setting. The quarterback at Ohio State probably never has an issue finding a date. The average schlub in the chem lab? Not so easy. The average college woman can get laid at the drop of a hat. The shy guy who is very nice? Pushing a wagon uphill.
Once everyone graduates, marriage and kids come into the picture. The man wants to conquer the world and needs the energy to do it. Hence, the woman who cooks. The woman wants energy to raise kids. Hence, the man who is a powerful breadwinner is attractive. If chem lab schlub is a doctor, his value goes up.
OK, I will be accused of a 1950s mentality and with women in so many more higher level jobs, how dare I write like this. But even freakin Gloria Steinham(sp) looked for men more accomplished than she was.

My DH was perfectly capable of cleaning and cooking (he does 50% now), but every woman he dated couldn't clean or cook. It was his inside joke when he was dating that women just rebelled against cooking and cleaning and never learned. No one wants a slob.
