I was a patient at SGF but had the procedure done with my OB since I was with Kaiser. Very minor procedure.

I had two removed when they were doing the egg retrieval for IVF. Nice to only go under once instead of twice.

I had two polyps removed a few months ago via Hysteroscopy. I was under general anesthesia. I felt fine after surgery; in fact, my husband and I saw a movie that evening. I continued my exercise routine two days later, just a lighter routine than normal.

The worst part was that my doctor prescribed me medicine to dialate my cervix pre surgery. I had a horrible reaction to the medicine (beyond dialation).

I feel so much better post poyp removal. Lighter periods, no pain during sex, no bleeding not during my menstrual cycle, and hopefully we'll get pregnant!

My doctor is in a different city.

Best of luck!

They were discovered through an HSG and then a saline sonogram for the standard infertility workup, so I stayed there to get it removed. I go to the Annandale office, but the procedure was done in Rockville at their surgical center. Your RE doesn't necessarily do it - it's whoever is on call.

It was an a relatively easy outpatient procedure. They do it under twilight anesthesia. I was completely out and don't remember the procedure itself. I recovered for about an hour and then was on the couch eating soup about 2 hours after the procedure. Worked from home the next day, but I could have gone in if I needed to. I had some bleeding and cramping, so it was nice to be home.

My RE advised me that an OBGYN can do it, but since I was getting the infertility workup, I preferred to stick with SG. I figure they do those kinds of things all the time.

Good luck, OP!

+1 The exact same for me!

Don't go to GWU for this procedure. They did not give me twilight anesthesia and it is super painful without it! Barbaric, even!

Anyone had polyps? How are they removed? Could you recommend a doctor?
