No. The only way I think anyone could get it covered is to be smarmy and have a ST do the tutoring and claim she/he is just doing speech and language therapy.

You can however, use money from an educational savings fund (not a 529).

That article was written 2 years ago, in the infancy stages of "obamacare". Now 2 years later it is quite clear that all of those fantastic initiatives that were supposed to be part of that fabulous plan of his never came to fruition. Do a little research and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Point is, I doubt that any insurance plan will cover tutoring or services for ADHD. Autism yes, ADHD no. As a matter of fact my DS's psychiatrist recently said "too bad he wasn't diagnosed as being on the spectrum, because then a lot of his therapies would be covered...".

Tricare is more generous than most for autism services. It is probably ABA therapy if they are doing behavioral skills. Yes, tricare pays for ABA for autism as well as OT, PT and speech. Our SPL works on reading/writing and other issues related to the speech. It really depends on the provider.

Her insurance is through the military. The tutor does have to work with him on behavioral skills as well. But most importantly f the time she is tutoring him in his school subjects.

Health insurance generally covers health issues and not educational issues.

You may be referring to ABA instruction, but other than that I have never heard of insurance covering tutoring. The other aspect might e in speech therapy possibly pikcing up some pre-reading or reading skills.

Ne neither. Are you sure your friend is getting actual tutoring? My child was seeing a speech therapist for phonemic awareness and pragmatic language and we got some small percentage reimbursed by the insurance company. In casual speech I would call it "reading tutoring," even though it was actually speech.

I've never heard of anyone getting this covered.

I have a friend whose insurance covers tutoring for her son who is on the spectrum, which leads me to wonder if this is a benefit that commonly extends to ADHD as well.
