You will be among many parents who have to bring the older siblings. I'm sure it's no problem as long and the older child knows he needs to sit quietly and behave.

Call the school and ask if it is OK. The letter I received explicitly said do not bring siblings, the school cannot accommodate them. You have time to find a babysitter.

Maybe you are thinking of back to school night which is a no-kid event.

For orientation I am pretty sure you bring the kid with you, and there were quite a few siblings around as well.

Shunned? Is this a serious question?

What was the public shame? Did the gathered townspeople throw stones?

The baby and I were placed in matching stocks while the other parents three old vegetables at us-- humiliating!!

It may depend on the school, but at our school when my son started K, orientation was a whole family thing. The older siblings helped show the new ones around and the younger siblings ran around like toddlers do.

It's fine. You won't be the only one.

I think it'll be fine as long as older DC is fairly well behaved/not disruptive.

Our school is having K orientation on an early dismissal day, so I have no one to watch the older dc.
