My sister is my best friend. We talk pretty much every day. I don't know how it happened. She gets me like no one else. She thinks I'm funny when no one else gets my jokes. She understands how sensitive a person I am. We sometimes get annoyed at each other, but we will always love each other unconditionally.

I was very close to my younger sister. We laughed, went everywhere together, spent nearly everyday doing something.

Then she cheated on her husband, got divorced, married that ugly man she had the hots for and became a habitual liar and a thief. She also put her new friends before any thing and anyone else. I stopped speaking to her. She became someone I didn't want to know.

Last I heard she was living in poverty with her serial cheater husband, her daughter no longer talks to her and she spends her days wishing she were dead.

If she had been loyal in her life maybe she wouldn't be where she is now.

I love my sister. We were very close as children, fought and had a lot of tension as teenagers, and have been separated geographically as adults. She can be a real snob & bitch. But I love her and feel we have something special together. The distance helps!

My sister is ten years older than me and has always been very bossy and generally unhappy. I finally cut her off about 7-8 years ago. I couldn't take her meanness anymore. I don't miss her at all.

Yes, my two sisters are my best friends and local.

I felt close to my sister growing up but we have diverged as adults, mainly because of geographic distance. We stay close by sharing a hobby though.

My sister is one of my best friends now, but we weren't close as kids... Mostly due to a 6 year age gap. We've grown much closer post high school, since we're basically the same person. These days, we're both busy with family and work, etc. seeing each other takes some effort, but we text daily so we always feel somewhat connected. I would say I put as much effort into our friendship as I do into any other and don't rely just on the fact that we're sisters to drive our bond.

When you grow up and have your own families/lives, it gets harder, but your sister is always your sister.

Omg are you the same person from the older threads? If you are then your sister is completely right to rid herself of you. Let go. Get your own life.

There are just 2 of us, we live in different cities but are very close. We try to visit and talk a lot. I will say that I think its entirely possible to foster this as a parent, though some might disagree but I've seen it been fostered and modeled throughout my extended family. THat said, you can have a good relationship and not be best friends.

I have one sister who is mentally ill. She lashes out at me and makes it hard to be close to her.

I am hurting because a sister cut me off. I have 4 sisters and we range from 30-14. None of us are close and we're all going in different directions and actively seeking outside social circles. It makes me sad and I wonder if it's normal. We were very close and homogenous while growing up and I really miss that connection. Are any of you besties with your sisters? How do you create or nurture that bond?
