It's sort of brave to me: to come out and say - he hurt this child and it's not her fault and there is nothing wrong with her and she's not unclean or dirty or ruining or anything. He is a bad person and that's it. Good for her to empower her duaghter (i am assuming the daughter is 100% on board with publically talking about it)

I'm sure the only information about the crime prior to the video is in the court records for whatever town this is in Colorado. Millions of crimes occur in this country without any coverage at all.

I don't know if it is true, but she said in the video she knew him for 20 years and dated for 2 years before getting married....

that's exactly what I thought when I saw it. Plus the guy was a cop for 3 yrs which was a red flag to me. Generally people don't just quit police work, esp after only 3 yrs unless there's a reason, in my mind a sinister reason. He had a lot of red flags IMO.

Op here. I know it was public already given the fact he was prosecuted, but honestly, there is a huge difference in "how public " this was before the video and now.

I doubt she expected to go as viral as it did. It was on my newsfeed this morning and had 80k shares already.

I'm kind of shocked he only got 90 days if she was only 15 at the time and there was DNA evidence. I think her point about "stranger danger" being not the biggest concern is valid. People we know are the biggest risk. Awful situation for sure.

I hope the DD agreed also. It was public already since he pled guilty and got 90 days. Although I'm sure her name was kept out of the proceedings as she was a minor, it was obviously her stepfather.

Yes, this was hard to watch. So sad and horrible. I think it likely the mom had her daughter's buyin for the video, though I can't be sure of course. At least I hope so!

Facebook this week? It is a very sad story but what I would like to know is what you think about her decision to make it public like this? Her daughter is only 17 and while the video is powerful in showing how these monsters look like "your guy next door," I'm not sure I would take the same approach if it was my own daughter. I mean, if my DD was an adult and made the decision to tell her story to the whole world like this I would support her, but thus girl is still so young...
