We moved my son the middle of the year. Once a kid has been in the school 2 weeks, insurance kicks in. If you move kid with Doctor note for physical inability to attend, everything is covered. If you move for no reason on psychological reason you get 60% back.

Wrong. Most insurance WILL cover a withdrawal for any reason whatsoever. They simply pay you less back, than they would for a medical reason or dismissal. Please stop repeating this nonsense on every thread about withdrawing and tuition!!!

most of the tuition insurance programs require you to attend for at least two weeks.
our school prorates through the beginning of the school year, according to the contract. but you'll have to check the ones you are looking at.

If you didn't get tuition insurance then you most likely need to decide before June 1st which is when most schools' contracts become binding. However, your best bet is to read the contract you signed when you put down the deposit because DCUM won't be able to answer the question as well as the contract...

I've also only heard that tuition insurance only covers for certain reasons and changing schools is not generally covered. I don't know about the PP's friend who was able to do it, but it may have been a particular situation or a particular policy that allowed them to do that. Reading the fine print is imperative whenever you sign a contract!

+1 Highly unlikely that any of the schools you mention above prorate their tuition. Most contracts are binding after June 1 and schools do enforce such contracts. If you have tuition insurance and you are enrolled for a certain period of time, you can file a claim after a withdrawal. A typical policy will cover about 50% of tuition (you're still on the hook for the other 50%).
