I've done off-site events that included team-building type activities--but also strategic planning, etc. We've used the FWS facilities in West Virginia for it--they're really nice. I'm not sure how it was paid for, but I assume out of training funds.

We also do an annual picnic at Fort McNair--we pay for that by charging people and hiring a caterer.

My boss from my previous office did it once. You need some creativity and a GPC (for small purchase). Ours was a mandate office "field trip" to a nearby park specializing in team building exercises and adventures. All were told just to show up. No detail before hand.

We tried but were told we couldn't do it during work hours (in case of accident or injury) and it couldn't be paid for our of program funds.

Interested in trying to do an off site team building event. Has anyone in the gov't done one and where? How did it turn out? Did you do it during the work day? How was it funded? Thanks.
