5-10 years ago, they may have been significantly better options than the surrounding neighborhood schools, but with improving neighborhood schools, that seems to be the case less so now.

You wonder how a school like SELA will stay open...6 children on their waitlist and 3 of those is for third grade. My guess is that they aren't sure that they'll have a 3rd grade so they couldn't promise spots to their 3 applicants.

Man my DD's number was worse than I thought.

Looks like 0 WL at 6th for Wash Global.

I think it's time for you to wake up and smell the coffee . . . or at least talk to some families of 5th graders. And it's apples to apples - just look at last year's press release.

The increase in 5th grade is probably coming from all those families with children in Ward 6 that Bowser et al have basically told to eff off. There is nothing close to Alice Deal for All.

My Latin waitlist in the 40s suddenly doesn't seem so bad...not that I expect a call, but still...

Exactly! I'm likely biased because we 'lost' the 5th grade lottery, but I can't believe the press release does not call attention to the fact that MS grades (5th - 8th) saw an increase of 1100+ students.

I know it's in schools interest to have duplicated waitlists but I really want to see unduplicated numbers of kids waitlisted by grade.
